#CodeDescription
The famous battle between the Caped Crusader and the Joker is joined once again. If you give yourself some help with Code 2, infinite lives, you may survive the final fight with the J-man himself. With Codes 20 and 21, you may go straight to the bosses on some levels. Code 22 will make Batman invincible after he is hit once. Then he'll turn invisible. Normal game play is possible, but watch out for jumps. To make Batman visible, momentarily turn off effects and Batman may appear. If not, try again.

Hints For Batman
#Description
1In level 3, at the far-right end of the museum's first level is a 1-up; grab it and jump onto the rising platforms. When you reach the third platform or until the screen starts to scroll up, jump back down and the 1-Up should be there again.
2Play the fifth level until you get to the second platform at the top. Now walk off the left side and fall in a straight line. You'll pick up three 1-Ups and lose one life.
3In Flugelheim, there is a long passageway up complete with spike laden moving platforms. Go to the top, move to the left, grab the batarangs, move right and jump down to last platform, let the platform move all the way down and then up, jump up and left and grab replenished batarangs. You can max out your "rangs" this way.

Excerpt from Genesis Game Guide by The Scribe

NAME: Batman series (3 titles)
AUTHOR/VENDOR: Data East/Sunsoft
RELEASED: various
TYPE: Action
LANGUAGE: English

PREMISE: A series of action platformers starring our favorite
Caped Crusader, all but one of which were based on the
first three live-action feature films. Based on the
original characters created by Bob Kane for DC Comics.

IMPRESSIONS: Terrible graphics that get better as the series goes.
Mediocre game engine that doesn't show much improvement
throughout. Average gameplay at best. All in all,
                  they're rather flat and uninspiring.

VARIATIONS: The Konami Batman game is a totally different animal and
is not considered part of this series, as is Acclaim's
Batman Forever. See seperate entries for more details.

Batman (1990, straightforward port of the acclaimed 8-bit
NES title that may look better but plays worse than its
predecessor - based on the first feature film starring
Michael Keaton, Kim Basinger, and Jack Nicholson)
Batman - Revenge of the Joker (1991, a somewhat improved
game that draws directly on the comic book for its
inspiration, this appears to be a humdrum port of the
                    mundane Amiga original)
Batman Returns (1993, third and final game in the Data
East series is the best looker and player of the three,
even though it's still the same old game engine with
almost all of the same gripes intact - based on the
second feature fim starring Michael Keaton, Michelle
                    Pfeiffer, and Danny DeVito)

It was the first game that I've played in my recent adquired Mega Drive (a few years ago), and is a good game, the best of the Batman series, but is fairly dark and difficult.

Micheal Keaton would not be impressed with this rather dire platformer although if he had a mega cd he would. as the mega cd has a god like driving mode on it which makes the platforming sections just bareable.

3/10 poor platformer, get the mega cd version

Um, actually, the original Batman for the Genesis was not at all a port of the NES game. And that is unfortunate, for the gameplay pales in comparison with that of the original. Sunsoft managed to preserve the mood of Batman as well as Konami did, but the fighting is insipid, the platform leaping is gone, and Batman's appearance and animation is actually *less* impressive than in its 8-bit predecessor. Graphically impressive side scrolling-shooter levels (in the Batmobile and Batwing) and nicely done digitized and animated sequences between the levels unfortunately are not enough to save this game. For die-hard Batman fans only.

What happened to you dudes? Are you gone crazy? C'mon, this is one of the best games I ever played. It was one of the first Genesis games I saw, and I still remember the scene of Batman falling from the sky and that cool music. I believe you lost your sense. The music is 100% also the graphics it's an old game, and that's the best of all

What this game included is some of shooting game, and most "beat and up" style game, both is very good in design. Each rounds is well designed, you need different strategy on different rounds and boss. not much repetitive moves you need to make, think every steps!(close to the batman style!:)

The story line is close to the movie (as it include batmobile and batwing!:)
The background musics suit the batman theme, and the sounds developed quite well!

The origional Batman game don't impress me much as it is a tad boring and not very playable, sad though, because the best Batman film ever made did not get a game to match the movie. Batman on the C64 was better than this. Sad.
