PREMISE:          One or two players can choose from a limited assortment
                  of characters and match skill and steel with the minions
                  of the evil Death Adder, who has taken over the kingdom.
                  Ported from the acclaimed series of coin-op games.

IMPRESSIONS:      This is the legendary Sega platform fighter that was the
                  rage of the arcades during its day.  The sequels don't
                  add much except for one or two new characters and some
                  different moves - although fans of the series say that
                  the third is the best of the lot.  While they can't hold
                  a candle to the Streets of Rage series, there's still
                  enough in here to keep the average gamer content for a
                  long time.  Good graphics, decent sound, and better-than-
                  average gameplay which gets rather involved at times.

Golden Axe is easily one of the all-time greatest games ever made. Still fun to play even today. For a time, I was totally addicted to this game. I could actually beat the game with an "A" rating, how many of you can do that too? ;). This game spawned a crapload of other games that tried to be like this one but failed miserably in the attempt. It has some memorable sounds, most notably the death cries of the enemies you slay. This one is definately on my top ten favorite Genesis games list.
Golden Axe 3 was only available on Sega Channel in the US. Very different feel to the game than the first one. You get to choose your path as you progress through the levels. There's even a hidden charactor (that bird boss dude). It sucks that you can't use the dwarf, though he does make an appearance in the game. A great Sega game if there ever was one. I just wonder why they never released it in the US, (maybe to promote Sega Channel as having exclusive games).

These games are really fun! Chose a carakter and battle it out on many different levels! The third game is the best one! Thought all of them are really good! The grafics is great and some effects are stunning! A must play!

This is my first game in genesis, the graphics there really attract me to buy it! the graphics in this game sure is the best during that time (period between 8-bit and 16-bit machine)

The story of this game about, again, safe people from crisis:). By hiting all the enemy with your own weapon, or using the fire with your dragon(you can take ride on dragon). The second is a new element in this kind of game.

The game play in the game is so smooth,
and the level is not too hard, so can hold some of your time to make perfect move.
The another good point is that this game support 2-players, which is rare in the old time.

The version 2 of the game even better than the 1st game, with new magic use mode, and better graphics.

For the version 3, if you haven't try that, I think you may just drop it, the graphics there even poor than most of the game in sega master system! and the moves is not smooth at all.

Even though im not a big fan of it.. I love this game! you go around kicking little demonns who steal your stuff, fight skulletons, rides mystic demons and also get a grade! im usaly a failer.... anyway its cool cause you and a freind cna go and try to win! and choose your favorite character!

This game is notable for being one of the fist in which a woman (in a bikini admittedly, but then Ax-Battler (the macho one) was just running about in a blue loincloth!) was allowed to get a sword and KICK SOME ASS!!! Streets of Rage is more fun though, but this game is still great fun!

This was and is one of the best series ever, I can't think of any better games to stick on now and give a thrash to thats any more satisfactory than these D&D meets Double Daragon games. Oh why did the Gen/MD have to die when there were so many great games like this that are not available mainstream any more and are only available on crappy poor playing ROM's and not my nearest Woolies?

The only thing i saw as a downside was the enemys
didnt have much sound unless you get hit by them or until they died.

It definitely was one of the best in its beginning. The arcade was a little better. But this is a Legenary Game.
