In this fantasy fighting game, which features cool magic graphics, you can defeat the evil Dark Guld and return peace and prosperity to the land with the aid of these great Game Genie(tm) codes. Normally, you get to live 3 lives. There's a wide variety of codes to change this for either player (or both players). Remember, if you have more than 3 lives, the life gauge looks strange, but the game still keeps proper track of the number. Try AXE2 Code 16 for infinite lives, but you can still lose lives if you fall. To use magic with Codes 17 or 18, select special magic and don't move the marker past the highest number or the game will freeze.

1Level SelectJump ahead to the level you want with this amazing trick! At the opening, press A,B and C and Hit START. Move the cursor to Option, Keep holding A and hit B and C again. Move to Exit, keep holding A and hit B and C until you get to character select. Hold A and UP and hit B and C one last time. Now pick your level!!
2Over 200 Magic UnitsGet powered-up with this magic code for Golden Axe II! Press and hold the A button when fignting the Boss on any stage. Do not let go of the button until you defeat the Boss and enter the bonus stage. Now release the A button, but do not hit any of the wizards or take any magic books. Wait until the next stage, and you will be able to use magic spells whenever you want.
3Round SelectNow you can choose your starting level with this cool code! When the game starts, hold A, B and C buttons and press START. Release the B and C buttons, but keep holding the A. Go to the options screen and press B and C at the same time to enter it. Without releasing the A button, move the cursor down to exit and press B with C again. Keep holding the A button, press B and C together to make your choice of one or two players and press again to choose a normal game. Select your character and without releasing the A button, hold UP on the directional pad and press B, C and START simultaneously. Select your round with the A and the B buttons.
4More ContinuesTo get extra continues in arcade mode, after switching on the game, press and hold A, B and C. Hit START to go to the Options menu. While in options, release A (keep pressing B and C) and select the options you want to play with. Next, exit the Options menu, still holding B and C. Select either 1 or 2 players, and you will now have eight continues.
5Extra MagicYou can only get this option for player one and you must be using the "Special Magic" option. When you hear the music before the first boss (the Big Red Minotaur), hold C. Defeat the boss while holding C, and just as you see the screen swirl to black, release C. Now, while in the special level don't press any button or move at all. If you were successful, when you START the next level, your character will cast a special spell and your magic points will fill up to 255.

PREMISE:          One or two players can choose from a limited assortment
                  of characters and match skill and steel with the minions
                  of the evil Death Adder, who has taken over the kingdom.
                  Ported from the acclaimed series of coin-op games.

IMPRESSIONS:      This is the legendary Sega platform fighter that was the
                  rage of the arcades during its day.  The sequels don't
                  add much except for one or two new characters and some
                  different moves - although fans of the series say that
                  the third is the best of the lot.  While they can't hold
                  a candle to the Streets of Rage series, there's still
                  enough in here to keep the average gamer content for a
                  long time.  Good graphics, decent sound, and better-than-
                  average gameplay which gets rather involved at times.

Golden Axe is easily one of the all-time greatest games ever made. Still fun to play even today. For a time, I was totally addicted to this game. I could actually beat the game with an "A" rating, how many of you can do that too? ;). This game spawned a crapload of other games that tried to be like this one but failed miserably in the attempt. It has some memorable sounds, most notably the death cries of the enemies you slay. This one is definately on my top ten favorite Genesis games list.
Golden Axe 3 was only available on Sega Channel in the US. Very different feel to the game than the first one. You get to choose your path as you progress through the levels. There's even a hidden charactor (that bird boss dude). It sucks that you can't use the dwarf, though he does make an appearance in the game. A great Sega game if there ever was one. I just wonder why they never released it in the US, (maybe to promote Sega Channel as having exclusive games).

These games are really fun! Chose a carakter and battle it out on many different levels! The third game is the best one! Thought all of them are really good! The grafics is great and some effects are stunning! A must play!

This is my first game in genesis, the graphics there really attract me to buy it! the graphics in this game sure is the best during that time (period between 8-bit and 16-bit machine)

The story of this game about, again, safe people from crisis:). By hiting all the enemy with your own weapon, or using the fire with your dragon(you can take ride on dragon). The second is a new element in this kind of game.

The game play in the game is so smooth,
and the level is not too hard, so can hold some of your time to make perfect move.
The another good point is that this game support 2-players, which is rare in the old time.

The version 2 of the game even better than the 1st game, with new magic use mode, and better graphics.

For the version 3, if you haven't try that, I think you may just drop it, the graphics there even poor than most of the game in sega master system! and the moves is not smooth at all.

Even though im not a big fan of it.. I love this game! you go around kicking little demonns who steal your stuff, fight skulletons, rides mystic demons and also get a grade! im usaly a failer.... anyway its cool cause you and a freind cna go and try to win! and choose your favorite character!

This game is notable for being one of the fist in which a woman (in a bikini admittedly, but then Ax-Battler (the macho one) was just running about in a blue loincloth!) was allowed to get a sword and KICK SOME ASS!!! Streets of Rage is more fun though, but this game is still great fun!

This was and is one of the best series ever, I can't think of any better games to stick on now and give a thrash to thats any more satisfactory than these D&D meets Double Daragon games. Oh why did the Gen/MD have to die when there were so many great games like this that are not available mainstream any more and are only available on crappy poor playing ROM's and not my nearest Woolies?

The only thing i saw as a downside was the enemys
didnt have much sound unless you get hit by them or until they died.

It definitely was one of the best in its beginning. The arcade was a little better. But this is a Legenary Game.
