Excerpt from Genesis Game Guide by The Scribe

NAME: Strike series (3 titles)
AUTHOR/VENDOR: Granite Bay/Electronic Arts
RELEASED: various
TYPE: Action
LANGUAGE: English

PREMISE: It takes a special breed of pilot to join the Strike
Team - one who's an expert in air-to-air and air-to-
ground combat, one who's ready to fly at a moment's
notice, one who won't fold when things begin to get
hairy. With the rise in global terrorism, the Strike
Team is looking for new recruits to face the ever-growing
dangers of modern life. Will you be the one that will
                  save the world?

IMPRESSIONS: Not shooters in the true sense, as they apply a healthy
dose of real-world military combat, but still lots of
of fun nonetheless. The isometric perspective does take
some getting used to, though, but once that's done you
can sit back and enjoy some truly awesome games.

VARIATIONS: Desert Strike - Return to the Gulf (1992, inspired by
the Gulf War, you get to blow away a fanatical MidEast
dictator and his desert-based loon squad)
Jungle Strike (1993, sequel in which your old protagonist
has relocated to the tropics - requires game manual for
                    password check)
Urban Strike - (1994, the eldest son of your old foe has
taken his dead father's place and is quietly building a
terrorist organization within a large American city)

There are also three other games in the series for other
platforms - Surgical Strike for the Sega CD, Soviet
Strike for the Saturn, and Nuclear Strike for personal
                  computer systems.

This series is actually quite fun. The control is well done, and nothing beats flying about blowing stuff up. Desert Strike came out shortly after the US's Gulf War. That was the first "made for TV" war. There was even Gulf War trading cards :)

This series gets better for every part! (the Saturn version is the best). You fly a helicopter (or sometimes other veichles) and try to complete different missions. It is really fun and the levels are varied. A must play!

Use your apache/helicopter fight along and as to complete all the mission. Mission included would be safe some body, help in rescue people from burning tower (There is a mission similar to 911:(,how they can predit there would be a real accident at future),
or destory an area and enemys land armies.

The three version is just similar, if you like to play anyone of that, and continue with the others.

On the urban strike version, you can also use tank, boat, or something else for mission, there would also some "rambo" like game there. If you like only the helicopter, just skip this one, however, this version did a great move on the game, easier control and better the graphics...

Desert strike is a great action game set duiring the gulf war. The plot is pure tounge-in-cheek featuring a dodgy Saddam lookalike planning to annihilate western civilization.
Once the controls are mastered, the game starts to shine. The mission structure is well done and there's a real sense of achievement as you progress through the (quite lengthy) levels. The game never feels "padded out" like many other titles.
The graphics look great and move smoothly, however Jungle & Urban strike feature a much greater variety in locals, ranging from snow-capped mountains to city landscapes.

Urban strike is not quite up to the standards set by Jungle, featuring awkward, jerky, on-foot sections.

Overall one of the Genesis's great series.

ah, yes the strike series. i could go on for days talking about these games, but i'll try and spare you some time...

Desert Strike- got my first taste of it from my grandmother's friend, and i was always asking to borrow it. one of the greatest games ever, you fly around and blow stuff up. i dont remember getting past the 3rd level- this game is pretty hard. i kick myself for getting rid of my sega and all my games, including this one; but the system was tired and worn out from almost five years of VERY extensive play.

Jungle strike- my favorite in the series, i think its because i got to fly in a Comanche, my favorite helicopter of all time. blowing up washington dc is fun as hell.

Urban strike- almost the same as the other 2, but has foot missions. this one is also the easiest by far. does anyone remember that mission where there was a gaping hole in the WTC buildings? great game.

well thats it. if you still have a genisis that works, get these games in some way, if you have all 3 already, dont you EVER get rid of them like i did- you'll hurt yourself later on. the new strike games suck real bad, especially Nuclear Strike. this is one of the greatest series of games of all time.

HEY! did anyone else in this world own a 32X w/ Doom and the Sega CD add-on w/ Tomcat Alley and Lords of thunder? all good games. drop a reply on ur posts to this, plz.

I can't argue with the fact that these games were some of the best on the Megadrive. But they are sooooo damn difficult, and can be incredibly frustrating! These are the kind of games that are arguably better with the cheats (invincibility, ammo and fuel) on. That way, mucho carnage can be enjoyed without having to go off in search of supplies, or worrying about dodging missiles. Definitely worth owning, but with the serious option of using the cheats.

Desert Strike - a total bomb of a game, great gameplay and things to blast at and instead of a poor 3d chopper game you got this isometric style game which came with a good story and great missions. 9/10

Jungle Strike - not bad but its gameplay was a bit different i think it was slower just overall, but it had new vehicles in it if you could play it that long to get them. 7/10

Urban Strike - back at the top for me this one had great graphics great music, cool missions in which you infiltrate structures running around shooting and picking up items. that wasn't it all it had better vehicles than jungle strike and the mission locations were amazing. 10/10

overall Urban Strike comes out on top because it combines the best elements of the past strikes and using them to make a better one with new features of its own.

The Strike series is probably the only relistic combat simulation set of games on the Genesis. Each packed with challenging yet fun missions for everyone to play

Desert strike:

Great game in terms of graphics sound and gameplay. You fly an apache Helicopter Equipped with the latest arsenal of weapons Flying through four campaigns of wanton destruction

Jungle Strike:

A Must have sequel for those who like desert strike.
Packed with 8 challenging campains, Five awesome wingmen and awesome vehicles including The F-117 Steath fighter. This is definitly a classic shooter

Urban Strike:

Though the story takes place in the future the gameplay remains almost the same as Jungle Strike with the addition of some ground missions.
Not the best of the series but worth your time. Hardcore Fans may enjoy this installment

In my opinion, Jungle is the best of the trilogy

Desert Strike - One of the best damn games ever distributed by Electronic Arts. This game was everything you could want, an Apache helicopter and lots of missiles and guns. Some of the missions were a pain, but hell it was great fun.

Jungle Strike - An okay sequel to Desert Strike, I admit, destroying Washington D.C. is kinda fun ;) The new types of craft were okay additions.

Urban Strike - By this time I was tired of the strike series, it's mostly the same old stuff. There are the missions were you walk around as a lone soldier, but that's just a small little quirk of the game.
