#CodeDescription
Help Rex save Earth and its colonies from an unknown menace, and eventually find out what that menace really is. Codes 8 thru 13 give you different aspects of invincibility. The difference between Codes 8 and 9 is interesting. With Code 8, enemy fire hitting Rex will explode but cause no damage. With Code 9, enemy fire passes through Rex without exploding.

Hints For Target Earth
#Description
1Full Weapons - To have all the weapons available, have exactly 2800 points at the end of level one. This score is equivalent to destroying only the Widerum (enemy ship) at the end of the level.
2Two Player Mode - On Stage One, wait for the first green alien to appear on the right side of the screen. Press Start on Controller 2. Now one player controls the regular robot while the other player controls the enemies' robots.
Cheats For Target Earth
#TypeDescription
1InvincibilityWhen you start the game, press the start button on controller 2, but be careful not to pause the game. Your energy will go down, but you won't die.
2ContinuesHere's a way to get 9 continues instead of 2. First you must reach at least stage 2. Then, when the game is over, go to the options screen and press Start on controller 1. If you've done this correctly, a woman will appear and say "continue up". Repeat this after your lives have dropped below three to increase them to 9 again.
3Change Firing ModePress A, B, and C simultaneously. This can be done during play or while paused.
4Rotate LogoAt the company logo screen, press A, C, Left, and Right at the same time on controller 2. You can now change the size and rotation of the logo by using the D-Button and buttons A and C.
5More ContinuesBegin the game and destroy your warship. Let Rex die on his way to the shuttle. Choose the Option mode and set Pad Reset to "Enable." Now (while still in the Option Mode) push C and START simultaneously. A girl with nine continues will slide onto the screen.

Excerpt from Genesis Game Guide by The Scribe

NAME: Target Earth
AUTHOR/VENDOR: NCS/Masiya
RELEASED: 1990
TYPE: Action
LANGUAGE: English and Japanese

PREMISE: Earth's outcasts have returned from the depths of darkest
space ready to retake the planet for their own, with the
will and the weaponry to match. The Earth Defense League
isn't about to let them do it, though. Yeah, it's a bit
of a Macross clone; leastways, that what the game intro
                  resembles.

IMPRESSIONS: A challenging side-view mecha game with a great storyline
and anime cinemas throughout. Gameplay is a bit sluggish
but it should appeal to all fans of the Strike series.
                  (Rage Games)

Assault Suit Valken, the japanses version kicks even more ass, though there is now a English translation of the jap cart... why am English translation of a game already localized? Cause the Jap version had more dialouge, pretty pictures of the people talking to you, and a much cooler name (Americans got Cybernator). And shit, Assault Suit Leynos also kicks Target Earth's ass.... meh, what you really may want to know though, is Metal Warriors for the snes was sposed to be an Assault Suit game, but NSC was doin poorly at the time and handed it off to Konami... meh, though Metal Warriors still plays like a Assault Suit game, cause it really is, without the name... And the 2player mode on Metal Warriors is Awesome.... but yeah, this game is the FIRST in a AWESOME series.... So play them all...
