Excerpt from Genesis Game Guide by The Scribe

NAME: Slaughter Sport
AUTHOR/VENDOR: Razorsoft
RELEASED: 1991
TYPE: Fighting
LANGUAGE: English

PREMISE: An early versus fighter in which you train to become part
of the stable of combatants at Mondu the Fatman's Fight
                  Palaces.

IMPRESSIONS: If you've ever wonder just how bad a Street Fighter 2
clone can get, then you've come to the right place. All
this needs is cheezy 8-bit graphics, although the ones
provided aren't that far removed. Looks bad, sounds
awful, plays worse - in fact, the only Genesis fighter
worse than this is Street Smart. I've been told that
this is supposed to be one of the classics of the fighter
genre, but the version people reminesce about must be
from another platform - or possibly another dimension.

VARIATIONS: Also known as Fatman, Tongue of the Fatman, and Mondu's
                  Fighting Palace

Just like the mentions on above, the sounds, moves and graphics, all are horrible. Character design is not on standard, the ending also make you laugh.

Don't waste time to play this game, There are many other better but similar game, e.g. Mortal Kombat series.

This game is just as bad if not worse than fighting masters (which i tried to break in many different ways but it still lived!) But unlike FM, i cant even beat level 1! No wonder they call it "slaughter sport" it will make you kill yourself!

Yet again, The Scribe has no clue.

Originally announced soon after the Genesis launch as Mondu's Fight Palace (and "Tongue of the Fatman" before that, in early lists), the game was delayed forever, only finally released under the name "Slaughter Sport", long after its relevance was gone.

The important thing to note is that the game IS NOT a clone of Street Fighter II. Note the date. The game was originally scheduled to be released at least a year before Street Fighter II. It's just that things got so garbled that the game merely sat on the shelf for several years.

For the time when it was made, Slaughter Sport/Mondu's Fight Palace had quite good graphics and an interesting premise. There weren't many one-on-one fighters at that point, and the far-out take that this game had was an interesting and new one.

If it had been released when it was supposed to, we might be speaking of the game in a very different light. It might not be too impressive by today's standards, but it's still had an unfair lot in life. And it's only fair to note what the game really is.

FATMAN rocks as a 2 player game. Play as Mondu VS Mondu...FUN FUN FUN!!! It's a cult game for my friends and I. some matches last only a mere second before crushing the other Mondu. I imported this game back in 1990 for the Genesis and have recently played a game with my friends (03-15-04) and it's as fun as we remembered. Very fond memories of this game. It's one of those games that gets a bad rap from most people who never even played it as a 2 player game. I was also motivated to put up a FATMAN webpage. I'm betting it's the only one out there :p http://spoonman.roarvgm.com/videogame/screens/fatman
