Code 5, infinite life in the life gauge, and Code 6, infinite players, will give you some help. Hints For Strider
#Description
1Secret Room Trick - In level two, fight your way past the gorilla to the part with the spinning gears. Jump onto one of the containers, then jump INTO the rocks above. If you time it right you'll get caught in the rock and be pulled into a secret room. Keep trying until it happens. When you are pulled in, you'll have to fight the Phantom. Once he is destroyed just climb the wall to the right to get out and continue normal play.
2Grab two robots. Find a container with a robo- panther. Open it but do not touch it. Get hit on purpose so you lose a robot. Activate the robo-panther by touching it. After a white, it will go away and leave you with two robots that will never leave, even if you die from hits.

Excerpt from Genesis Game Guide by The Scribe

NAME: Strider series (2 titles)
AUTHOR/VENDOR: Capcom/Tiertex/U.S. Gold
RELEASED: 1990 (both titles)
TYPE: Action
LANGUAGE: English

PREMISE: Ports of the infamous Capcom side-scrolling arcade games.
The first was a notable hit when first ported to the G/MD,
the second kinda came and went.

IMPRESSIONS: The first 8 mbit cartridge games (or so Sega claims),
these platform fighters don't compete well with more
modern offerings. Gameplay is decent enough and Hiryu
has tons of techniques, but they could move a bit faster.
                  Formerly glorious. (Rage Games)

VARIATIONS: Strider (aka Hiryu, Sutoraida)
Strider 2 (aka Journey into Darkness, Return of Hiryu)

Strider is great game for genesis that was a port of the Arcade game. Put simply, this game rocks! I don't care what Rage Games says, I don't think this game is too slow, and infact, it adds some things not seen in other action games. Your main character, Hiryu, wields an awesome weapon called a Falchion. He can use it to slice up enemies real nice :) Hiryu can also climp walls and flip up on platoforms. I love the graphical style and the level design used in this game. Kudos to Capcom! I give this game a 9.5

Strider Returns on the other hand is a crappy game made by US gold and not Capcom. It isn't a true sequel and isn't to be confused with Strider 2 which was recently done in the arcade and is now on psx. The game plays out like a boring platformer with graphics that look like game gear quality and music that would scare even a deaf person. The game starts out in a forest for christs sake. This game is a challenging piece of crap. I give it a 4

Just a little side note, strider was released on nes as a action/adventure and is actually fun, it's a good capcom nes game. Hiryu also appears in Marvel vs Capcom 1-2 and you get to hear his theme music when you play him. And Strider 2 is a fun new foray into the strider world which was released in the arcade and on the psx. Go check em' out, but stay away from Strider Returns, ick.

One of those classics! this is one of the first genesis games i ever had and a good one too! You should try it if you haven't already, you most likely wont hate it, but its not as good as it used to be, but still, its cool. the second is ok. not better than the first though, whats cool is the option to choose either the classic sword or the new "swinging lightsaber" kind. try both and give them a shot!

Strider 1 is great, smooth graphics and some great moves. Throughly enjoyable Ruskie bashing.

At least that's what it sounds like the weird, boomerang-throwing women are saying. I love this game! It's so insane, with the giant communist caterpillar/cntipede thing, and the robot gorilla, and the big gravity-screwing thing! Wow!

Honestly, I liked the NES version better. The use of a storyline where you have to fight Communists, your friend who goes insane, and of course your own employer makes the NES version a little better. I also liked hunting for items to progress through parts of earlier levels.
Anyway, the Genesis version is also a fun time. Just not as fun as the NES version (which I hate to say considering that I hate Nintendo. The only thing Nintendo was good for was bringing back video gaming to a computer game driven world.)

FACT: This game originally sold for $69.99 US at Toy's r Us for years.

Why? Because it was an "8-Mega Memory" cart!
