Excerpt from Genesis Game Guide by The Scribe

NAME: The Lion King
AUTHOR/VENDOR: Westwood Studios/Disney Software/Virgin Interactive
RELEASED: 1994
TYPE: Platform
LANGUAGE: English

PREMISE: Now you can experience the magic and wonder of the movie,
in which Simba the lion must come of age and regain the
rule of the veldt, unlawfully usurped by his conniving
uncle. Based on the hit animated Disney feature film,
which was an unabashed in-your-face direct rip-off of the
classic anime movie Jungle Emperor (i.e. Kimba the White
Lion) by legendary Japanese anime sensei Osuma Tezuka.

IMPRESSIONS: Excellent animation, with your choice of two characters
to play (cub and later adult Simba). Potentially
frustrating in later rounds, and the ending isn't worth
the effort - except in saying that you beat this game.

Decent I guess. (Score: 1)

I played this game but found it had none of the charm that the first had. But for pirates, it's a worthy effort. I'm just wondering why the music is so horrid. Oh wait, what am I saying? These are pirates! :)

The original Lion King is a nice looking game, and apparently plays great when you get a few levels into the game.

However, the game relies on a difficult series of jumps to get to this point and the chance of me doing this is exactly this - 0.

The game stinks if you have no patience. Make this as a warning.

It was pretty cool back in its day.. but it seems to lose its charm (well maybe only to me) its kinda fun in wich you have to make it through stages, and beat a boss.. its almost a basic game.. but with disney characters!

Funcoland actually had the Lion King 2. It was in a normal cart. I tried it to see if it worked and they saw it being the pirate. When the guy saw it being a pirate he jacked up the price 30 bucks. I said screw it and I left.

I wasn't as keen on this as the other Disney games when I first played it, but it does grow on me. And it is based on my favourite Disney movie, so that's a plus!

A very impressive game graphically with nice music makes this game more playable and enjoyable, however I can't get past the jumps on level 2 even after playing 30 times, it should be easier.
