Help Ripley really rip into those nasty aliens with these power codes. Codes 37 and 38 sometimes enable Ripley to jump through walls and ceilings. Be careful, though, because she can get stuck in ceilings or walls or get trapped forever if there's no room on the other side. If this happens, reset.

Excerpt from Genesis Game Guide by The Scribe

NAME: Alien 3
AUTHOR/VENDOR: Probe/Acclaim
RELEASED: 1993
TYPE: Action
LANGUAGE: English

PREMISE: Something has gone terribly wrong on the Suliaco's return
trip back to Earth. Flight Officer Ellen Ripley finds
herself alone on a prison planet, the sole survivor of
ship's unexpected destruction. Unknown to her and the
inmates, she has brought an unwelcome visitor with her -
an old and deadly acquaitence that could mean death for
them all. Loosely based on the live-action sci-fi film
                  starring Sigourney Weaver.

IMPRESSIONS: I usually don't like movie translation games, but this
one's quite good. By the way, you get to be Ripley, but
I don't know whether that's good or not. Good graphics,
                  too. (Skyline)

I sorta have to disagree with the Scribe on this one. I do think that as far as Movie games go this is one of the better ones. But the gameplay never changes. You are always looking to free all the prisoners before continuing onto the next level. While the bosses are large aliens and each is a little different. They don't look much different and aren't all that difficult to defeat. I find the music dull and repeative and the gameplay to be the same. Level after Level of the same.

While the SNES version has its slowdowns and other problems...it at least has more variety in the game which is more mission oriented over simply saving the prisoners.

It's good, but not earth-shattering. The big licence will draw in the crowds and the graphics are excellent, but its still run-of-the-mill.

Repetitive but stylish. Take on the role of Ripley and blow away a whole nest full of aliens.
Decent music and big sprites, the variety in weapons is nice (although the actual usefulness of some of them is debatable). It's hard, later levels have strict time limits that get the adrenaline flowing as the seconds tick down.
Better than the film I guess, but that ain't sayin much.

This game is definitely fun (and not to be played home alone with the lights out) but there was a problem with quite a few of the original UK Mega Drive carts, as they stopped working after a few months!
