Re: NHL Hockey Series (Score: 0) by Anonymous on Wednesday, 26 March 2003 @ 12:02:37 | I do not like NHL94-- it is WAY too easy to score by skating toward the center with someone who has a decent slapshot and aiming for the same corner as you are skating (Robitaille, Lemieux, Kamensky, Sandstrom). For an extreme example of this, play LA versus Ottawa with Carson, Robitaille, and Sandstrom as your forwards... once you are good, your team will score 40-50 goals a game! Gretzky rarely scores because of his terrible shooting stats, which is very disappointing.
I thought that NHL95 was a huge disappointment. I could never get into it.
NHLPA 93 is my sentimental favorite... play Tampa Bay vs. Tampa Bay for an all-out brawl!
NHL96 is a close second, with better goalies and defense, but it plays a bit too quickly, in my opinion.
Regardless of your tastes, you will find at least one NHL game (or several) on the Megadrive / Genesis that will suit your needs! I liked NHL99 on the PC the most, but find myself popping in several of the Genesis games for nostalgia (yes, even NHL94). |

It had botht eh NHL and NHLPA licenses and the game play was great. Yeah, it didn't have fighting, but so what. Name a hockey video game that has been able to capture fighting correctly?
As for NHL Hockey and NHLPA 93, I think they both were great.
NHL 95 looked and felt different, as well as NHL 96.
I still play NHL 94 on the Sega CD, it's the bomb!

The games by two expert players in 94 were incredible. Not only could a guy play defense but could also play goal also. Ingenious! PLUS ONE TIMERS! HEllo? REAL HOCKEY!!! |
