Sonic 3 is a lot of style over substance and is simply not as enjoyable as Sonic 2. There is a lot more "interactive" sections which take some of the direction away from the player.
Sonic 1 is a close second, but because of the valuable tool that is the spin dash, Sonic 2 beats it. Sonic 1 had great level design which has a lot more subtlety then the rest of the series.
Let me end this with a childish complaint: I want Sonic Jam! |
